Heidi Klum was conceived in the German city of Bergisch Gladbach on the 1st of June 1973. Erna Klum was Heidi's maternal grandmother, was a professional hairdresser. Gunther Klum was a director of a cosmetics company. Heidi's father was previously a producer for 4711, which was a fragrance company. Heidi was raised in the home town in Bergisch Gladbach a city of around 100,000 people just six miles to the east of Cologne. The German-American actress, hostess of a television show and former model Heidi Klum lives in southern California. Klum had to compete against thousands of other contestants across Germany as well as Europe and Europe, before she made it to the semi-finals. In April, 1992 Klum won the top prize of $300,000.
